Our Governor, Rick Perry, has proclaimed Oct. 13, 2010, to be the first ever Texas Education Human Resources Day. The Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA) initiated the effort to recognize the important contributions made by human resource staff to public education.
TASPA’s 2010 President Tamira Griffin, executive director for human resources in Plano ISD, explains why this recognition is important to school districts: “Often HR team members are in the background, not seeking credit for all the great things they do, not the least of which is providing expertise that supports each district in attracting and retaining quality staff. Without our most important asset—people—none of our districts would be able to fulfill the goal of providing an outstanding education for all students.”
