Our Immediate Past President
Christy Willman, Executive Director of Community
Relations in Lamar CISD, is serving as the 2007-2008 TSPRA President.
Christy is a native Texan who grew up in the Baytown area. She is a
graduate of Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State
University, with an education degree. Christy began her teaching career
in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. She also taught in Austin ISD before moving
to the Richmond-Rosenberg area and began teaching at Lamar CISD.
Christy’s
involvement with Lamar CISD’s commutations and community involvement
department began more than 10 years ago. And she has been a TSPRA
member from the beginning of her responsibilities with community
relations. Lamar CISD’s Superintendent, Dr. Thomas Randle, observed
that Christy is a dedicated employee who has done an outstanding job as
community relations executive director.
“Christy has never
forgotten her roots as an elementary teacher and continues to support
students and teachers in their quest for academic achievement,” Randle
said.
Christy and her husband, Larry have four grown children,
all of whom have helped her in various capacities in putting on special
community events in the Richmond-Rosenberg area.
“Focusing on
the Faces of our Future” was Christy’s theme for her presidential year. She asked TSPRA members to renew their commitment to their
jobs, striving to provide the best atmosphere possible for the academic
success of all students.
